The FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) enables the FDA to better protect public health by strengthening the food safety system by focusing on preventing food safety problems rather than relying primarily on reacting to problems after they occur.
The law also provides FDA with new enforcement authorities designed to achieve higher levels of compliance with prevention and risk‐based food safety standards and to more effectively respond to and contain problems when they occur. The law also holds imported foods to the same standards as domestic foods and directs the FDA to build an integrated national food safety system in partnership with state and local authorities.
We at TruFood Solutions work hand in hand with our clients to provide comprehensive coaching and guidance to help them fully comply with FSMA regulatory requirements. A few of the FSMA requirements we assist our clients with are:
- Written Food Safety Plan
- Risk assessments covering the entire supply chain
- Documentation for traceability purposes
- cGMP’s training (involving safe and sanitary conditions for the manufacturing, processing, packing or holding of food areas).
- Corrective and Preventive Actions
- Supply Chain Program Requirements
